Who We Are
YOU DESERVE TO KNOWWhat motivates the professionals you hire?
Hi, I’m Matt. I’ve been helping families plan for the future since 2014, and after working alongside my dad (Gary) for 10 years, I took over the practice in 2024. Even when my Dad retired, he was still telling the story of one of his first clients, Jack (I changed his name for confidentiality), who is still a client and has become a friend of our family.
Jack walked into Dad’s office in 1990, at 50 years of age, and with $5,000 to invest. He was an uncertain investor and didn’t know what his retirement was going to look like. He was concerned about his income keeping up with inflation, paying for health care expenses, and still being able to create a legacy for his family.
Since then, our team has gone through five bear markets, six recessions, six U.S. presidents, 18 double-digit market corrections, a pandemic, and a lot of other economic and market ups and downs with Jack. We’ve kept him calm during choppy markets, and he has faithfully added to his investments—which have grown to over $3 million today.
Jack has become a wise, disciplined investor, and he passed on those values to his children and grandchildren. Today, we are serving three generations of his family.
That’s just one story of many.
Our clients tell us they’ve been able to:
- avoid big financial mistakes,
- enjoy life in retirement,
- keep their incomes growing beyond their living costs,
- pay for their kids’ college,
- and give generously to charities they cared about.
They are able to do these things because they have a long-term, goal-focused financial plan and a trusted, caring guide along the way.
When investors like you succeed,
the world becomes a better place.
Together, families like yours and ours have the opportunity to make a difference. That’s why our mission goes beyond just helping you plan for retirement – even though that is what we actually do, it’s not why.
We know that by helping you plan and invest successfully, retirements are meaningful, children (and grandchildren!) go to college, charities are supported, family members are cared for, and values are passed from one generation to the next.
A LITTLE MORE ABOUT MEIt’s an honor to serve.
Matt Buller, RMA®
Financial Advisor | Retirement Management Advisor®
I grew up in Champaign, Illinois and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Corporate Communication from Olivet Nazarene University. I also played football for ONU – Go Tigers!
After college, I moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado and spent the next five years working in football coaching education for Glazier Clinics. I stay close to the game now by volunteering with organizations like the National Football Foundation and our local Illini Quarterback Club.
I joined my dad, Gary, as a financial advisor at Wells Fargo Advisors in 2014. Together, we opened the Champaign, Illinois office for Benjamin F. Edwards in 2018. With a legacy over 135 years and five generations of the Edwards family, Benjamin F. Edwards has deep roots in the wealth management industry. We are thankful every day to be at a firm that is committed to putting its clients’ interests first
I earned my Retirement Management Advisor®, or RMA®, certification in 2022 to help our clients with a deeper level of retirement planning. RMA® is the highest level of expertise in retirement income planning.
Outside of work, I am active in my church and the Olivet Nazarene University Alumni Association. My wife, Haley, and I have been married for five years and we have two sons. We love the day-to-day fun and adventures of raising a young family. I enjoy running races, experimenting on the grill, reading, and traveling as a family. My “bucket list” includes finishing my Private Pilot’s License and going to some of college football’s biggest rivalry games.
